Wind turbines are potentially dangerous

First published in Letters
ADVOCATES of wind power gush that we are the windiest country in Europe so therefore we must invest in wind farms. However, turbines need to be shut down during high winds. During the recent storm a turbine fell over in Teignmouth.
Imagine the dangers posed to residents or motorists if a blade were to fall on them.
Taxpayer subsidies are paid to wind farm owners when they are shut down in too windy weather.
It is time to end this foolish agenda and put the safety and finances of our citizens first. Wind turbines are not environmentally friendly either. They damage countryside and kill birds and bats.
