Oxford Mail 2014 Sir some great news has arrived for rural campaigners such as the CPRE. The unrealistically large quota for renewables is to be cut thanks to the EU finally seeing sense. I always felt that the  renewable energy  target of 20% was far too large for our small island and should have been around 3%. Wind turbines have  blighted acres of  pristine countryside and  large solar farms are also rather industrial and not so very green. The whole 20% renewables quota  has been  an environmental disaster to date because we have precious little woodland and countryside left in our land. The maths never stacked up from the start which lead to widespread discontent amongst countryside lovers. Rural campaigners can  now crack open the champagne and thank the  coaltion MEP`s that secured this volte face. The coalition has also removed taxpayers subsidies from onshore windfarms  that wealthy landowners profited from poor customers. This last point proves that David Cameron and Nick Clegg are acting with integrity since they both have relatives who will no longer receive money for windfarms on their lands.
