 Oxford Mail 2013
it appears that the decarbonisation amendment to Labour`s Energy bill was narrowly defeated rather than passed in the House of Lords.
A lot of Lib Dem and Tory Peers (encouraged by Lord Lawson) peers voted against the bill thus potentially averting  future rises in energy bills.
Lords who voted for the  decarbonisation amendment such as Lord May of Oxford had to declare business interests in low carbon and  climate areas.
Lord Lawson spoke out in favour of abandoning the amendment.
He stated that consumers would be paying a 41%green levy if it was passed.
Lib Dem and Tory peers votes  have thus  helped consumers while most Labour peers voted in favour of the  decarbonisation amendment which would have resulted in huge rises in electricity and gas.
